I'm all about that fancy hotel life but I'm also really into the experience of off the beaten path, hidden could be the best place ever or worst place ever.

Surfing Turtle Lodge was that experience while we were in Nicaragua. In order to get to the lodge/hostel we drove for hours from Granada to a little tiny beach town outside of Leon, then a water taxi drove us across the reserve (with all of our luggage). When we got to the other side a horse and buggy took our luggage while we walked along side through the jungle to arrive at the hostel/lodge.

Even though it was extremely hot (read: surface of the sun) during the day, the hammocks all around, homemade food, amazing sunset views and especially sleeping in a hut on the beach and waking up to the sound and view of waves was worth the adventure.
