Arriving at HulaKai Hotel was a serious high of the trip. We arrived just as their weekly Taco Tuesday party was ending (which we were really sad we missed. It included a circus aerobatics show, magic tricks, comedy show and music... and obviously delicious tacos.) Immediately we were so warmly welcomed by everyone, our bags were carried to our rooms (of which they have regular rooms and eco-pods, and one of the owners gave us a tour.
We spent the day swimming, relaxing, eating meals from the open air restaurant/lobby and then escaping the harsh mid-day sun in the pool grotto watching a movie (as in you sit in the pool, in a cave and watch a movie. Is this real life?). Watching the sunsets from the pool was incredible.
Tips:
a healthy delicious breakfast is included
nightly family style dinners are delicious
the walk back up from the beach is not easy. but worth it.
it's more of a lively, fun hotel with music playing most of the day
if you're traveling with a larger group, their Torre de Luna house was beautiful
