Cerritos Beach | Baja California

Cerritos Beach / Playa Cerritos is a small Baja beach town an hour from Los Cabos Airport.

It's a tiny beach town with a few restaurants and a swimmable/surf beach for all. So many families, kids and dogs running around the beach.

Our itinerary:

Flew from Tijuana Airport to Los Cabos Airport

Rented a car through Discover Cars

Stayed at Cerritos Surf Town for 3 nights

Month- After Christmas before New Years

Weather- Beautiful warm days but not hot. The evenings were chilly and definitely needed a sweater. The water was too cold for me but there were a lot of surfers, and kids swimming and playing. A perk of winter in Baja are all the whale shows you'll from shore.

How to get to Cerritos Beach:

Getting to Cerritos beach from San Jose del Cabo airport is very safe and easy. Rent a car through Discover Cars. As you're exiting the airport you'll see booths for your rental car company that will take you on a shuttle to the rental agency that is just off the airport site. It's a bout a 1 hour toll road drive from Los Cabos Airport. There are a few toll booth stops where you can pay the toll with pesos or credit/debit card. Each toll was about $2-$3. Google maps works great he whole way. Once on Highway 19 you'll follow google maps and then signs for Cerritos Beach where you'll turn off onto a sand road towards the beach.

Where to stay in Cerritos Beach

Playa Cerritos is very small. Check out other options on booking.com and VRBO for different options that suite you best.

Where to eat in Cerritos Beach:

The best margarita I have EVER had: Barracuda Cantina. The shrimp burrito was my dream. We ate here twice and I would choose Barracuda Cantina for every meal. There is almost always a line but you can get a drink while you wait. Take your meal and margaritas to go or enjoy on their busy and lively outdoor patio.

Head to Todos Santos for more options!

What to do in Cerritos Beach

Take surf lessons from Mario Surf School, do a little shopping at Costa Azul Surf Shop, swim, boogie board, watch for whales and dolphins, read, grab a margarita from a pop up beach bar, relax, repeat.

And with your rented car head into Todos Santos. Have a meal at The Green Room, check out Hotel San Cristobal and hike Sugar Port Trail for amazing views.
